The Dragon Copilot mic configuration UI doesn't allow assigning ambient recording to the SpeechMike Ambient's Record button — but you can fix this via Philips SpeechControl software by swapping the Record and Play button functions.

Did you know?

The Dragon Copilot microphone configuration user interface does not allow for configuration of the big Record button on the front of the SpeechMike Ambient to start/stop ambient recording.

By default, the ambient recording function has been assigned to the Play/Pause button. Unfortunately, it is not possible to assign the ambient recording function to the Record button in the Dragon Copilot configuration UI. Only Record start/stop and Push to talk are allowed for the Record button.

The Fix

The SpeechMike Ambient buttons can be reconfigured via the Philips SpeechControl software to provide start/stop of ambient recording in Dragon Copilot.

Note: You must have the current version of Philips SpeechControl installed. Current version is 4.8.480.33. Download it here:

Step-by-Step Instructions

In SpeechControl, go to the Device tab → Button configuration settings and swap the functions of the Record and Play/Pause buttons:

  • Assign the PLAY function to the Record button
  • Assign the RECORD function to the Play button

Important: Don't forget to click Upload to save the settings to the SpeechMike Ambient.

After uploading, the SpeechMike Ambient will show the intended behavior in Dragon Copilot when pressing the Record button.
